The World Can be a Magical Place

Our oldest is a senior in high school. It still seems foreign to say, whether typing it here in this blog or sharing with other people.

Somehow the beautiful little boy who blessed our family 17 years ago, is graduating high school this coming June.

I had the pleasure this summer and early fall to experience, through his eyes, the excitement of visiting colleges, applying to college, and witnessing the JOY of receiving an acceptance to college.

You always here about how life changes when you have a child. While that is true, I think what is more amazing, is watching the IMPACT your child has on the world around him.

I am always proud of our boys, yes, even when they make mistakes and need to learn lessons to be better going forward ... I am always proud. However, the sense of pride I feel for this young man is hard to put into words. He has worked HARD to be a strong student, despite his struggles due to his ADHD, he pushes himself and is an honor student every quarter of the school year. He has fought back against bullies that tried to make him feel less than he should ...and no matter how mean they could have been, he always felt bad for them, because he knew he was loved and was uncertain what the "bully" might be going through outside of school. This young man stands with his head held high and his character shines through every. damn. time!!

We transferred into a new school district in September 2019. It was the BEST decision my husband and I could have made for both our boys. Allow me to share a beautiful video of his football coach speaking about our Dominick. I feel Coach Sapienza truly captured our son perfectly.

I am excited for his next chapter. I am sad for our little family of four, as it will be hard not to have him with us every day and every night. I am especially sad for our youngest, because our boys are very close. However, the excitement we have for his future simply grows as he continues to show us daily the impact he is ready to make.

So far we have acceptances from two colleges, both with unbelievable academic scholarships. He's waiting to hear from two more ... then it will be decision time.

We'll be sure to keep you updated!
